Hutchhouse win Best Overall Business award, 2012 featured image

Last month Hutchhouse was delighted to have been nominated for an award. As it turned out on the night… we won!

The evening was organised by Inca Accountants who are a major player for all things accountancy related. They have a huge client list and help dozens of small businesses in the Oxfordshire area. Their approach is both professional and personal which is why we’ve stuck with them for all these years. We take great comfort knowing our accounts are safe in their hands.

After 10 years in business Inca threw a black-tie event to celebrate their own success and to thank their customers. A fantastic meal was laid-on before the nominations were announced. It came as a pleasant surprise to have won the category for ‘Best Overall Business’ – just look at the smiles on those faces.

Being recognised for your hard work and  continued business growth is always a great thing, so we have to thank the great team we have built up at Hutchhouse. We think we constitute the best digital agency in Oxfordshire and rival the very best in the country.

It’s been a great boost to the team and we’re over the moon to have this award. Thanks Inca!

Hutchhouse [London] move offices

Hutchhouse [London] move offices featured image

It’s been a completely crazy time over at Hutchhouse recently. We’ve had the busiest summer on record having won a whole host of new accounts and subsequently, dozens of exciting new projects to get our teeth into.

As if we weren’t busy enough at the moment, the London office has just relocated to the heart of Clapham. Don’t get us wrong, we’ll still miss the busy/smoggy/expensive Soho area but we can’t help but be a little excited about the move. The change of scenery has already proved to be a good move and a great way to mix things up a little. Nothing like a change of scenery to keep the ideas fresh.

So if you happen to be walking down The Pavement and fancy dropping in – please do. We’re always pleased to see a friendly face :)

We’re all going to love Pinterest

We’re all going to love Pinterest featured image

So Pinterest seems to be the latest social craze that’s sweeping the nation, and indeed the globe. You’d be forgiven for thinking that there wasn’t any space in the marketplace for another social network, but it seems there is and this already popular app is taking more and more of a slice by the day.

Pinterest stats

According to TechCrunch Pinterest has over 10.4 million users already. 9m of these people are logging in monthly, and 2m login daily so naturally it’s creating quite a buzz within the industry and rightly so. If the stats are to be believed some 97% are women which makes a refreshing change. For once the usual ‘early adopter’ crowd have taken to the wings and it’s the ladies who have the upper hand on this one.

The Today Show & Pap The Question

The Today Show & Pap The Question featured image

Today we received a message from one of our clients that he had just been on the tellybox. A few months ago we branded and built papthequestion.com for our friend James Ambler who lives in New York. James has been a successful pap for many years and worked for most of the tabloids both here at home and in the USA.

Not content with his lot, James though about striking out on his own and creating his own company. It’s still early days but it’s going really well and James’s business idea seems to be taking off nicely.

Give the gift of friendship this Christmas” is the message behind this latest viral collaboration from the Hutchhouse and White October team.

Dave Fletcher – inspired by the ‘Help the Aged: 1 is the loneliest number’ campaign – saw a need for some ‘geek love’ this Christmas and managed to get this great little parody to our screens. Follow the links tobefriendageek.com to find out more. Also, please take time to visit the genuine charities that really need your support at this time of year.

**UPDATE:**
Been checking the Google search results to see what people are saying about the video. A great response thus far. We even got coverage in the Metro today! Links to articles below:

Shop by colour featured image

Along with our good friends at White October and Nonsense we have given ourselves 24 hours to conceive, design, build and promote a new web based start-up company. It’s currently 03:16am and the office is mostly quiet apart from the odd murmor from the development team and the tip tap of keys.

The project situation is pretty healthy. We have a name. Dr.Hue. We have a business idea (shopping by colour) and we have a brand. We even have a holding page Drhue.com. The main site is being templated, whilst the templates are being finished off and there’s a whole host of image manipulation trickery going on in development. In the background, accross the room, the marketing boys set about promoting the site and pulling together a campaign.

And of course… you can currently see it all unfold at 24hour-startup.com

Oxford Geek night 10 featured image

As taken from the OGN homepage:

“Oxford Geek Nights offer a chance for web developers and designers in the local area to get together, share their skills and talk about new ideas, techniques and technologies.

Each OGN consists of two keynote talks of 15 minutes each. There are also frenetic bursts of socialising, sometimes adverts for other local groups, but always interspersed with two sets of 5-minute-long microslot sessions.”

Hutchhouse will be there, as will the White October gang.  Hope to see you there too!
