Like your website design but not so keen on your content management system?

Having an aesthetically pleasing website for your company is most definitely a satisfying feeling.  However, a lot of websites suffer once you access the CMS (Content Management System) and realise that you need a degree in rocket science to use it. Frustrating in most cases, infuriating in others, your content management system is off putting and tiresome to use.

Back-end Development

Back-end DevelopmentKey to the delivery of your web project, will be our web development team. The aim of our web developers is to produce a fully functioning web site or web application, to specification, using best practices and the best coding techniques available.

In conjunction with our front-end web development team, we build server side applications to support your project. We use, almost exclusively, use open source languages and frameworks to deliver whatever your project requires and have a range of skills to bring to the party.

Back-end Development

The aim of our back-end web development team is always to produce the best result for the specific project they are working on and that means you are going to benefit greatly from using them. If they are building a content management system then it will be intuitive to use and give you the flexibility required without being overcomplicated and full of redundant features. We build everything with a DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) philosophy and apply test driven principles wherever we can. Our code is of a very high standard, is always approached and planned to be as efficient and easy to read as possible and is extensible (allowing room for future updates and extension).

We use established frameworks for rapid development, such as Laravel (PHP) and Express (Node.js), with masses of experience in using relational databases such as MySQL and also document based databases such as Mongo. This means that we can build just about anything… and it’ll work with speed and efficiency.

3rd Party Software integration

We are also experts in the integration of a number of 3rd party software, for example;

Web & Mobile Applications

Web & Mobile ApplicationsThe future of most types of application is online. This includes software that we take for granted like word processing applications and spreadsheet editors as well as others that just haven’t been conceived yet. Everything is possible online and the benefits are huge.

Web applications are replacing desktop based applications

The use of web based systems such as Google Apps (especially Google Docs) to manage traditionally desktop based tasks such as managing email or creating spreadsheets combined with the availability of APIs in order to share, distribute, save and access your data almost anywhere make online applications extensible and powerful. We design and build of systems like these and are always eager to explore the possibilities of what can be achieved online.

Mobile applications

You can’t really build a site or application without considering the benefits that mobile support could have. Mobile usage online overtook it’s fixed (desktop or laptop) counterpart’s at the start of 2014 (eConsultancy) and it is a fact that users want optimised mobile experiences to be easy to use and fast to load. If you build an application or game or sell products and services that are available online  then consider the benefits that a mobile optimised version could bring to your users and the subsequent positive impact on your business and brand.

Web based mobile applications

There’s no excuse to consider the web based approach either, the tools are all readily available. HTML5 and CSS3 are so mobile savvy that the display and performance of a web based mobile app are not an issue and there are countless Javascript frameworks for handing complicated client side data binding and interaction. We have already built and put into production a web based application for one of our clients that works and performs brilliantly online and offline!

Native Mobile Apps

That said – there’s always a space for an application that can be installed on a mobile device and that get’s the exposure and economic boost from being available on the App Store or Google Play. There’s also reasons for developing them in this way and always a discussion about using features native to the specific device. Our solution to this is to look to a hybrid development framework (such as Appcelerator) which allows for rapid development on all platforms, from a single code source. As an example, we can develop applications in Appcelerator which support iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and Blackberry without the overhead of writing the application in Objective C, Java and C++.
