The filming process lasted for 4 months covering Red Stripe’s key marketing activities during the summer of 2004. Fifteen days of filming and over four thousand miles of travelling. The events ranged in profile and content from grass roots through to national championships, with particular emphasis on The Red Stripe British Longboard Surf Championships, The Big Chill, Animal Beach Balls, Notting Hill Carnival and Wakestock.
The second phase of the project involved capturing over twenty hours of footage ready for the editing process.
With such a loose brief, planning was, as always, key. It was decided that the short films should be separated into the key components of the brand, music and playtime, with the emphasis being the understated nature of Red Stripe and its organic place amongst the subject matter. Therefore the final edit would be two short films set to music encapsulating these two components with a third edit to be authored separately as a showcase of all the events.
Once the edit and post production processes were complete the films were authored to DVD using a design rich DVD menu including animated transitions. We also added an animated gallery of stills in order to show off some of the great shots which Red Stripe had accumulated throughout the summer.
